INTRODUCTION. The word of God directs us in our work and way, and a dark place indeed the world would be without it. The commandment is a lamp kept burning with the oil of the Spirit, as a light to direct us in the choice of our way, and the steps we take in that way.
THE SEED: Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet (Psalm 119: 105a): God’s word guides us through all of life’s circumstance. 1) Affliction, 2) Worship, 3) Decisions, 4) Persecution, and 5) The Future.
- The word of God is like a torch or lamp ton man in a dark night.
- It shows us the way, it prevents us from stumbling over obstacles or falling down into a cliff
- Help us not to wandering off into paths which would lead into danger or turn us away altogether from the path of life that leads to darkness. (2 Peter 1:19)

PLANTING THE SEED:
Our families need God’s Word because it is a lamp unto our feet and a light on our pathways. Families need to know the4 P’s of God’s Word:
The Purpose of God’s Word – It is my weapon. Ephesians 6 calls the Word the sword that we need to fight the enemy. It is a roadmap that helps us navigate through enemy territory.
The Promises of God’s Word – Your Word means everything to me.
The Power of God’s Word – We walk around defeated. Hebrews 4:12
Preparation to Hear God’s Word – We must prepare our hearts for the seed of God’s Word. (My sheep hear my voice and they follow me Luke 8:18; John 10:27)
This psalm is not a psalm that causes one to jump up and shout because everything has gone your way. This psalm is a deep reflection on how God has brought you through some tough times when life does not go your way
Reflection: How can the family use the Divine Lamp to be their guide?
FRUIT FROM THE SEED:
Jesus Christ the righteous is both the Light that directs our every step is not only that flaming torch of a light mentioned in the first of verse 105 above, but the Bible (God’s Word), guides us by enlightening our understanding. If we continue to study His Word, then we will see the path that we are to walk brighter and brighter. It is very important not to go anywhere, unless the light guides us there. Stay in the presence of Light, until you are like Moses’ head: full of His Light.
