Calvary Baptist Church has a 127-year history in the state of Utah under the 45 plus year leadership of Reverend Dr. France A. Davis who retired from active pastoral ministry on December 29th, 2019.

Our congregation is active in the community, and has partnerships with local, national and international organizations. The church avails its facility to host community groups, health fairs, tutoring, and mentoring programs.

We are pleased to welcome, Reverend Dr. Oscar T. Moses, as he begins his pastoral leadership of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, effective January 1, 2020.

Pastor Moses is a Bible believing, God trusting, God fearing servant of the Lord. It is evident that God is truly directing his path, as he makes the transition from Chicago to Salt Lake City, and as he continues to serve Him in spirit and in truth as the new leader of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. He is a welcomed addition to the community.

His favorite scripture is “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6.

Pastor Moses’ formal education includes a Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary, a Masters of Arts in Theological Studies from McCormick Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale Illinois. Prior to accepting the call to pastor Calvary, Reverend Moses served for seventeen years as the 17th Pastor of the Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church of Chicago, where his grandfather, the late Reverend Joseph A. Allen also served as pastor for 41 years.

Pastor Moses is married to Dr. Jacqueline Marie Moses, a special education teacher with the Chicago Public Schools, and former Assistant Professor of Education at Trinity Christian College.

Pastor Moses and Dr. Jacqueline Moses feel a calling by God to reach the people of Utah, and are attracted to Calvary by our passion to grow God’s Kingdom by making disciples of Jesus through local, regional and global missions and outreach. Pastor Moses’ purpose in life is to help others to live and love more like Jesus along with seeing communities experience all that God intends for them.

All are invited to join us in welcoming Pastor Moses and his family to Calvary and the Salt Lake community. Our Sunday services are at 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Please join us as we begin a new season of biblical growth on our spiritual journey!
